The most important criteria when buying baby nappies?
- Skin-friendly: a nappy should be breathable and free of harmful substances that can damage baby’s skin. Ideally, nappies should be perfume-free, 100% chlorine-free and unbleached. Otherwise, nappy rash and allergic reactions can occur.
- Protection against leaks: the main function of nappies is to keep babies and their environment dry. The amount of liquid a nappy can absorb and retain is therefore extremely important.
- Fit: the nappy must fit well to prevent moisture escaping. At the same time, there should be no pressure points or impediments to baby’s mobility.

Pampers is still by far the most popular – and probably best known – nappy brand. The nappies are impressive for their good absorbency and their shape, which does not sag even when the nappy is full. The big disadvantage of Pampers is its high price. At 20 euro cents per nappy, the price is considerably higher than that of the winner of the Lidl test.
3rd place: Eco by Naty ecological nappies

Babydream Sanft & Pur nappies from Rossmann are good-quality organic nappies. They feel pleasantly soft and are completely odourless. The nappies are made of organic cotton and are therefore particularly gentle on the skin. They offer sufficient protection against leaks, even at night.
